The average American income is $44,000 dollars a year. That's for those who are lucky enough to be employed. The national unemployment rate is 9% - that's 13.7 million people. The unemployment rate for blacks is significantly higher at 15.3%, and hispanics come in at 11.6%.
The high unemployment rates are not temporary. Our jobs have been permanently outsourced overseas so that corporations can exploit people whose governments do not regulate safe working conditions or fair pay.
The 400 richest people in America together have assets and capital to equal the combined assets of 155 million of their countrymen. They have not been pouring this money back into the economy, so that it can "trickle down". They are hoarding it. This isn't class warfare, it's genocide of the middle class.
Right now, we're very lucky to live in Idaho, because this national struggle between corporate profits and individual well-being is coming to our door. Scott Walker took on the Wisconsin teacher's union and won (albeit in the lowest way). Union-busting initiatives are coming to Michigan, New Jersey, Idaho, and all other states with Republican governors.
Next year is an election year, and the three largest contributors to democratic campaigns are unions. In fact, of the top ten donors to political campaigns, seven of them are corporations and give to republicans, three are unions.
I can't help but fantasize that, when the national news gets here, we will stand together and choose our teachers and children over bloated king-pins who want your child's education funding in corporate tax cuts.

You know what's funny? That video you posted is of a kid rallying against something the teachers union SUPPORTS.

Thanks for letting me know. I think this one is a little more appropriate anyway.
